The Annual Society weekend (14th-16th Sept) took place at North West Golf Club, Buncrana, Co Donegal. We stayed for the 2 nights at the excellent Inishowen gateway Hotel.
The weather for golf overall was better than expected but a little breezy. Certainly the food and staff service at both the Hotel and the Golf Course was of a very high standard.
18 members and 5 visitors travelled (2 from sunny France and 1 from Newcastle, England!). Fri saw 17 playing 9 or more holes as practice on NW.
Sat saw the 22 playing the North West links teeing off at 11:30 am. The scoring reflected the tough enough conditions though the course was in excellent order. The Dan Quayle semi-final was played with Rod Geddes defeating Sean Davis.
Sunday saw us teeing off again at 11:30 following an excellent evening dinner and Drumbo Society craic. It was a blustry day and again the Links challenge kept the overall scoring low. The Dan Quayle winner was Rod Geddes defeating Tony Fearon in a very sporting final.
The Overall Weekend winner was Paddy Carville with 62pts (34pts Sat and 28pts Sun).
Conor Fitzpatrick was a close runner up with 61pts (29pts Sat and 32pts Sun)
The Sunday nearest the Pins winners were Paul Campbell, Stevie Adams, Willie McIntaggart and John Lewis.
The Saturday nearest the Pins winners were Paul Campbell x 2, Harry McGrath, and Willie Magee.
Below is the winner Paddy Carville being congratulated by the Captain Pat Doyle.
